The standard of Abet

Abet is a mainland nation[1] to the west of the Deadfire Archipelago,[2] and south of the Eastern Reach.[3]

Locations[ | ]

Notes[ | ]

  • Despite apparently being a major power in the Deadfire Archipelago, the nation of Abet does not appear in and is scarcely mentioned in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

Trivia[ | ]

  • The Scourge of Abet is one of the enemy ships in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.
  • At one point, Carrie Patel and Josh Sawyer worked on the idea of a neighbouring mainland culture, Abet, that was a mix of orlans and aumaua. The aumaua were (in the distant past) Huana who conquered the native orlans of Abet and made them slaves for several hundred years. The orlans eventually rebelled and used mind control to overthrow their aumaua masters and either drive them out or subjugate them. Their current society was going to be this weird balance of a ruthless orlan cipher ruling/peacekeeping class and a largely mentally-dominated aumaua slave class. Some orlans were going to be part of Huana society as well, with an uncomfortable tension between them the the aumaua. The idea was cut because it was felt that the game already had too many themes and factions, and so this information is considered non-canon until it appears in a canon source.[6]
