Aedyr is a large continent in the western parts of Eora, home to the Aedyr Empire that lends it its name. Mountain dwarves (Aptapo) originated on the continent of Aedyr in the Old Empires, but had disappeared from those lands long before humans and elves arrived there.
The continent lies around the equator in the far west of Eora, vacillating between seasons of aridity and humidity. Major harbors are interrupted during seasons of coastal storm, but they never shut down entirely. Whether a colony is tasked with clearing an untamed jungle or fighting the turbulent sea, it has long been the policy of Aedyr to progress and expand with little regard for the local climate.
- Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire encyclopedia: "Mountain dwarves (Aptapo) originated on the content of Aedyr in the Old Empires, but had disappeared from those lands long before humans and elves arrived there. They have spread rapidly throughout the world over the millennia due to their instinctive drive to explore and migrate. While mountain dwarves do form settlements and even small nations, they are more often found within other cultures, most commonly Old Vailia, the Vailian Republics, and the Dyrwood."
