Bekarna's Depleted Grimoire is a quest item in The Forgotten Sanctum.

Description

The extensive runes and annotations in this grimoire have mostly faded from the page. Additionally, the text seems to be encoded by a complex cipher. The book is of no use to anyone in its current state.

Acquisition

• [FS] Quarantined Section: Bookshelf in the southwestern room, near the exit to the Restricted Section (same room as The Annals of Llengrath, Volume III of V)

Usage

• Transforms into Bekarna's Celestial Grimoire by either:
  • Placing the grimoire on the lectern in The Oratory of Wael during the night:

    A shaft of light breaks through the splintered roof of the Oratory of Wael to illuminate an empty pedestal.

    Though it's sometimes hard to tell in the Hall of the Unseen, it's nighttime. The beam is tinged with silver from the glow of distant stars.

    You rest the book on the pedestal, bathing its cover and binding in cool starlight.

  • Walking outside to the world map during the night, with the grimoire in your inventory, a dialogue will pop up and the grimoire will transform:

    The grimoire in your pack begins to quiver.

    Night falls, drawing a shroud of darkness over the horizon. The sea is a placid mirror reflecting the light of distant stars.

  • This results in the following, removing the depleted grimoire from your inventory and giving you the celestial grimoire:

    Bekarna's grimoire twitches with anxious, pent-up energy. The book snaps open, its pages suddenly laid bare to the starry sky.

    Blank parchment fill with text as if by an unseen hand, and runes once faded flare to brilliance. The grimoire pulses with energy before going still, its pages ruffled by an ethereal breeze.
