The man behind the bar is nearly the size of an aumaua. A handle protrudes from his back, and his face is set in a stoic frown. There's a tiny pewter cup in front of him. He turns it in one broad hand but doesn't drink from it.
Bishop was a scholar of Berath before Waidwen's Legacy struck the Dyrwood, with his sister's son being one of the first Hollowborn. He sought solace in worship and the cycle of rebirth that Berath promised - but the mounting number of Hollowborn children year after year, coupled with a continued silence from the gods, shattered his faith. The only cycle he found was drinking: "Have a drink. Have another. And another until I couldn't remember how I got home. Wake up. Come back."
This continued until Bishop awoke one day to discover his family had packed up and left. He couldn't tell if they'd left overnight or if they had left days prior and he had simply been too drunk to notice … but the end result was the same. His family was gone, so Bishop finally cleaned up his act. With Waidwen's Legacy continuing and the gods remaining silent, he has found no answers - he has simply learned to stop asking questions.
