Pillars of Eternity Wiki

In response to patch v1.3.7.0.1377 to Pillars of Eternity (June 6, 2024), the random loot tables shown on the wiki have been updated. These changes may take time to propegate.

As a result, random loot data is no longer accurate to old versions of the game, including all console ports. We'll be working to provide a mechanism to switch between pre-patch and post-patch loot for console players.

Dawnshore is a temperate coastal-plains region of the Living Lands, in Avowed. The port town of Paradis is the major settlement in the area, acting as the gateway to the continent. It is the first region visited by The Envoy.

Background[ | ]

The region is primarily composed of coastal plains, with rolling hills and outcroppings that provide varied elevation. The coastline is dotted with sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, and hidden coves, while small wooded areas are found further inland.

Points of interest[ | ]

Behind the scenes[ | ]

  • Parts of Dawnshore were first featured in the original gameplay trailer for Avowed.[1]
  • A dungeon in Dawnshore was the setting for the demo shown at Gamescom 2024, which had players search for a lost expedition during the quest Dawntreader.[2]
  • Early in development, the eastern half of the region (bisected by Paradis in the center) was locked off to the player until they hit a certain point during the critical path. In testing, players found this to be restrictive, and so midway through development, assisted by the addition of a prologue, these barriers were removed and the whole region could then be explored from the very beginning.
Up until that point, there was an assumption that area wouldn't be accessible, so the flow of content needed to be reworked as part of a process that the development team called "the great donutification".[3]
