Dunstan is a blacksmith and Forge Master of the Knights of the Crucible in Pillars of Eternity. He can be found in the forge room of the Crucible Keep in the First Fires district of Defiance Bay.
Background[]
Seemingly constantly flicking between the forge and a work table, Dunstan is a powerful dwarf kept busy by Commander Clyver's constant requests for repairs. Such is the fate of a forge master, a master smith for the Crucible Knights. He doesn't mind, as it allows him to keep up with old traditions of the Knights. After all, the first members of the order were smiths - easy to forget nowadays, when most Knights are professional soldiers.
In order to address manpower shortages, Dunstan is working with an animancy scholar to build forge knights - automated magical suits of armor that can patrol our streets without suffering fatigue, disobedience, or fear. Some agitator throws a rock at 'em, we don't have to worry about things getting out of hand. He's constructed the armor, but the scholar's been absent recently, preventing deployment. Dunstan doesn't mind that delay, as he believes that Commander Clyver is foolish to put his trust in animated armor: They lack the training all Knights undergo, being little more than automatons, and souls used to power them are purchased through illegal channels. Dunstan believes that the people who provide them should be pursued and punished, rather than treated as vital allies.
