Emerald Stair is a lush semi-mountainous region on the western coast of the Living Lands in Avowed. The city of Fior mes Ivèrno sits atop a hill near the center of the area.
It is the second region visited by The Envoy, after Dawnshore.
Background[]
Emerald Stair was settled by expatriates from the Vailian Republics, and is home to many animancers, practitioners and scholars of soul science, a study which has been denounced in other parts of world.
Farms on the outskirts of the Stair produce a portion of the food for Fior and other settlements. Some of the farms in the Stair are constructed as terraces due to the terain, consisting of stepped platforms cut into the hillside.
The Stair is notable for the arcane devices which are strung throughout the terraces in the surrounding area, soul-essence based contraptions created by the animancers in the city, which at night give off a mysterious and eerie purple glow. These devices assist the farms, and work by concentrating and supercharging the naturally-occurring soul essences in the surrounding air, which radiates and is infused into the plants and soil, accelerating crop growth and improving their overall quality.[1]

- Emerald Stair was a focus of the Xbox Games Showcase Deep Dive on June 10, 2024, a special episode of the Official Xbox Podcast.[2] During the show, game director Carrie Patel spoke about the area, as footage showed the player character questing in the area.
