Fior mes Ivèrno (Vailian: Flower of Winter), more commonly known as Fior (sometimes Fiore), is a major Vailian settlement of animancers in the Emerald Stair region of the Living Lands in Avowed.
Background[]
Fior mes Ivèrno was founded around 2780 AI by Maxim Vidarro, a former Vailian nobleman who orchestrated a significant exodus from the Vailian Republics. After being denied his rightful political position in the Songretta Ducala (Ducal Congress) in Spirento, Vidarro, under the perceived influence of Skaen, god of rebellion and defiance, gathered a following of animancers from the great city and set sail for the far side of the world. This secession was not merely a migration, but a calculated act of defiance and revenge, aimed at establishing a community free from the perceived constraints and injustices of the Republics. The settlers, many of whom were indebted or marginalized within Spirento, found in Vidarro a patron and a leader who offered them a chance to forge a new future.
Initially established as an animancy commune and intellectual haven within the Living Lands, Fior mes Ivèrno quickly flourished. The fertile soil and relative autonomy fostered rapid agricultural development and scientific advancement, allowing the settlement to thrive independently. Over time, Vidarro relinquished much of his direct authority, allowing the community to self-govern. His later years were spent in contemplative solitude, during which his relationship with Skaen evolved, finding a revised understanding of the Effigy. Upon his eventual and mysterious departure, his son, Ignasi Vidarro, assumed leadership, continuing the legacy of Fior mes Ivèrno amidst the encroaching threat of the Dreamscourge.

- The fire of Fior was first mentioned during the Developer_Direct Extended on January 22, 2023, in dialogue with Hasui, he alludes to something notable happening in Fior.[2] Later in the Story Trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 6, 2024, Fior is shown on fire.[3]
