Giacolo is a character in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.
Background[ | ]
An animancer from the Vailian Republics, Giacolo has devoted his life to researching the godlike. Inspired by the work of Todh Beylecg, he has determined that godlikes all have an unique chime within their soul that defines who they are - and even developed a method of modifying or disrupting it.
He met the 12 year old Pallegina at the academy she was attending and when the distraught girl threatened suicide if he didn't at least try to remove the chime that was changing her into Hylea's kin. He performed the experiment. Although it cost him a lifetime ban from the academy, the severing of the chime allowed Pallegina to achieve a modicum of normalcy in her life, looking like her calabandra kin, rather than a twisted bird.
In recent years, he developed a method by which one may detect a godlike fetus in the mother's womb. This has led to his abduction by a crew of godlike, who consider his discovery a potential threat - and have held him hostage since.
