Pillars of Eternity Wiki

In response to patch v1.3.7.0.1377 to Pillars of Eternity (June 6, 2024), the random loot tables shown on the wiki have been updated. These changes may take time to propegate.

As a result, random loot data is no longer accurate to old versions of the game, including all console ports. We'll be working to provide a mechanism to switch between pre-patch and post-patch loot for console players.

If the soul is what determines life, then death is not the blade through the heart or the poison in the drink. It is the fragmentation of a soul. The destruction of a soul - indeed, the absence of it. These... Hollowborn are the closest thing to true Death we shall ever come upon. ...I only wonder if it is the culmination of Berath's work, or an escape from it.

Gramrfel the Wayfarer is a bandit in Pillars of Eternity. He can be found near the crossroads at Magran's Fork after you have been to Defiance Bay and return.

Background[ | ]

Items in italics are quoted directly from the game.

A motley gathering stands at the crossroads. At first glance the person at the head of the group seems more monster than man. Two large and curling horns emerge from the sides of his skull, forming a hardened carapace that is pocked like coral.

Down its center this strange shell splits, revealing the ash-gray skin of a man's face, obscured above the nose. The horns might seem a mere helmet, save that in several places you cannot tell where the flesh ends and the bone begins.

From the neck down, however, this is by all appearances a human man, clad in fine armor of the same dark shade as his features.

Gramrfel is a brigand of uncanny education and sophistication, yet a brigand all the same: He traveled the world, studied with changers, sought out forgotten lore, all in a bid to understand who he is and why he was made that way. Killing people apparently puts him ever closer to his goal.

Other interactions[ | ]

  • He and his goons attack you after short conversation. When you defeat him, you can choose to imprison him provided that you have restored your stronghold dungeons.
  • If you are a Death Godlike, you can avoid the fight, but going too deep in the conversation will start the fight.
  • If Pallegina and Kana Rua are in your party, he has some additional dialogue with them.
