You find a woman of early middle years dressed fine - if dirty - armor adorned with bright purple piping. A pair of long scars bisect her brow and jaw.
Though she stands at ease, a nervous energy thrums through her.
Kae was born in Aedyr, but spent most of her life traveling. She did most of her travel through the Living Lands, but recently took up to crossing the Deadfire. She is employed at a university as a tenured professor, and her travels keep her in the field, working on unlocking the secrets of Eora. Most of her work focuses on the glorious madness of the Living Lands, which is also where she lost several research expeditions. Ahem. It gave rise to rumors that Kae is cursed, but really, it's just the risk that comes with the territory.

- Kae mentions that one of her colleagues, Ines, "got herself lost looking for what was essentially a big, prickly weed." This is likely a direct reference to Dragon Age: Origins, where the main character can be tasked with helping a mage named Ines find a Northern Prickleweed in the Awakening DLC.
