From the sea song "Lord Darryn's Lads," author unknown:

Well, the year I found myself first mate
'Twus the spring of 2668 Left my home and lover dear

We had a letter from Aedyr givin' plunderin' rights
Dyrwood ships were up for a fight
Godsdamn them once and damn them twice
Lord Darryn promised gold and glittering prizes

We set sail headin' Dyrwood-bound
Two weeks at sea and a rebel we found
We were brave young fools and surely mad
We couldn't be stopped we were Darryn's Lads

Lord Darryn called for ramming speed
Draw your blades said he, let's make 'em bleed
I miss my home and lover dear

We closed and crashed and leapt aboard
Bled them more than they could afford
Godsdamn them once and damn them twice
Lord Darryn promised gold and glittering prizes

Lord Darryn with his voulge fought true
Wrought thunder and sparks and led us through
We were brave young fools and surely mad
We couldn't be stopped we were Darryn's Lads

Level 1
Items in italics are quoted directly from the game.

Enemies crushed, we filled our hold
With all our ill-gotten gold
Riches for my lover dear

Ere a fortnight passed we struck again
Sank two sloops under pounding rain
Godsdamn them once and damn them twice
Lord Darryn promised gold and glittering prizes

Lord Darryn brought the storms to heel
And lightning struck from stern to keel

We were brave young fools and surely mad
We couldn't be stopped we were Darryn's lads

Level 2
Items in italics are quoted directly from the game.

We sailed and fought for the kin
All loyal brigands of the sea
Judge me not, my lover dear

We sailed through squalls and maelstroms
Crushed rebel fleets with thunderstorms
Godsdamn them once and damn them twice
Lord Darryn promised gold and glittering prizes

Blood and broke timber did abound
But there was no plunder to be found
We were brave young fools and surely mad
We couldn't be stopped we were Darryn's lads

Level 3
Items in italics are quoted directly from the game.

It couldn't stand, he had to know
Lord Darryn turned from friend to foe
I'll come home soon my lover dear

We took our chance, we mutineers
But he wouldn't back down, he had no fear
'Godsdamn him once and damn him twice
Godsdamn he promised us glittering prizes

He called lightning down upon our heads
Burned the boat and struck us dead
We were brave young fools and surely mad
Only Lord Darryn could kill Darryn's lads

Forgive me please my lover dear

Behind the scenes[ | ]

  • The description for Lord Darryn's Voulge bears resemblance to the lyrics in the song Barrett's Privateers by musician Stan Rogers, describing a fight between a Canadian privateer and an American (rebel) ship.
    • "'Twus the spring of 2668" - "O the year was 1778".
    • "We had a letter from Aedyr givin' plunderin' rights" - "A Letter of Marque came from the King".
    • And of course the chorus: "Godsdamn them once and damn them twice Lord Darryn promised gold and glittering prizes" - "Goddamn them all, I was told, we'd cruise the seas for American gold".
