Maerwith is a pirate and the captain of the Red Dream in Pillars of Eternity. Currently she and her crew are on shore leave, spending time on the upper floor of The Charred Barrel in Brackenbury.

A pirate by choice, Maerwith is a stunning woman with kohl-rimmed eyes and a permanent cold shoulder for strangers. It's a result of her experiences: She lived in the Lighthouse of Ondra's Gift in Defiance Bay until she was seventeen,[1] when her mother turned her out because the food she provided to the household had been paid with stolen coin, which led to her pirate career. It's been rough sailing until she made captain of her own ship, the Red Dream. Unbeknownst to her, her mother regretted kicking her out and looked at the horizon each day, waiting for her to return. She never did - and the flooding at the end of the War of Defiance claimed her mother's life.

- The Wailing Banshee: Depending on the player's discoveries, decisions, attributes and dialog choices during the quest, her past may be revealed or not, and in the end you might find yourself fighting her, have sealed the family breakup, or convince her to forgive and eventually release her mother.

- In Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, while Maerwith herself isn't present, the spirit of her ship lives on in the form of The Red Dream, a hull upgrade that may be purchased.
