Pillars of Eternity Wiki

Nans is an animancer in Pillars of Eternity. She can be found on the first floor of the Sanitarium in the Brackenbury district of Defiance Bay, after you've acquired the final piece of the broken Engwithan relic in Clandestine Cargo.

Background[]

Items in italics are quoted directly from the game.

An elderly woman peruses the shelves with a quickness and an energy that belie her age.

At a certain point during development, it was possible to sell the Stolen Engwithan Medallion to Nans at her office in the Brackenbury sanitarium for six or seven thousand coppers. This option then was cut from the game before release. Following are some related lines from the 04_cv_nans.conversation and 04_cv_nans.stringtable game files:

  • Watcher: "I've got a medallion to sell you."[CUT - Conditionalized out.]
    • Nans: "Well, that's something new." She takes the medallion and holds it in front of her nose, watching it twirl in the light. She suddenly hisses. "By the flame! Have you any idea how much this is worth?"
  • Watcher:
    • "Not really."
    • "Quite a lot, I hope. [Clever]"Minor
      • Nans: "A lot, indeed. Something like this'll fetch six thousand pands in the right market." She runs a finger along the medallion's curve. "I'll give you that much if you're willing to part with it."
    • "At least six thousand pands."[Only, if bargained with Serel before.]
      • Nans: "Sounds like you've been doing some research of your own." Nans looks at you slyly. "What do you say? Willing to part with it for that much?"
  • Watcher:
    • "It's a deal."
      • Nans: "And a fine deal it is." Nans grins. "Let's just keep this little transaction between us, shall we?"Journal: "I sold the medallion to an animancer named Nans. Thristwn is going to be disappointed."
    • "[Intellect 17] It may be worth six thousand to a collector, but surely it's worth more to a researcher such as yourself."
      • Nans: "You bargain like a Glanfathan, child. Very well, how does seven thousand suit you?"
        • Watcher: "It suits me just fine."
          • Nans: Nans grins. "Excellent. Let's just keep this little transaction between us, shall we?"Journal: "I sold the medallion to an animancer named Nans. Thristwn is going to be disappointed."
    • "Maybe later. Let's discuss something else."
