Pillars of Eternity Wiki

In response to patch v1.3.7.0.1377 to Pillars of Eternity (June 6, 2024), the random loot tables shown on the wiki have been updated. These changes may take time to propegate.

As a result, random loot data is no longer accurate to old versions of the game, including all console ports. We'll be working to provide a mechanism to switch between pre-patch and post-patch loot for console players.

Out of Eternal Horizons is a task in The Forgotten Sanctum.

Synopsis[ | ]

Now that Bekarna has her grimoire back, she remembers why she came to the Black Isles in the first place - to recover a fallen star. Locating a sample of starmetal will enable her to scribe a unique spell, and she promises to share the results of her research with the watcher. She is certain that a celestial catalyst - a piece of charged starmetal - can be found somewhere in the Halls Obscured. A falling star struck this location recently, so the Watcher may have to look deeper.

Walkthrough[ | ]

  • Deeper is an understatement. The quest will not be possible to complete until the player reaches The Upper Bowels. The starmetal can be obtained at the Celestial Remnant near the massive piece of Wael.
  • To avoid a fight, the souls in the starmetal must first be calmed. There are three ways of doing this:
    • Sacrificing the pet Giftwrapper.
    • Reading the book On Celestial Spectres: Visitors from Farther than Beyond and letting the spirits feed on a portion of your soul. This results in an injury.
    • Or by having read the book On Celestial Spectres: Visitors from Farther than Beyond and passing two Metaphysics checks:
      • Metaphysics 15: If you allow the spirits to commune with your soul, ig might prove a suitable distraction to claim a piece of the metal for yourself.
      • Metaphysics: Try and commune with the spirits.
      • Metaphysics 20: You open a metaphysical bridge between your soul and the entities inhabiting the mineral.
      • The spirits will understand what your intention is, and aren't really bothered when they see that you're not hostile to them. They will let you snap of a piece of metal without incident.
  • Collecting the Fragment of Starmetal without doing either will cause Celestial Spectres to attack.
  • Once they are gone, it's a simple matter of returning to Bekarna to receive her grimoire and a unique tool, the Celestial Agitator, that allows for spawning star spirits.

10000 Now that Bekarna has her grimoire back, she remembers why she came to the Black Isles in the first place - to recover a fallen star. Locating a sample of starmetal will enable her to scribe a unique spell, and she promises to share the results of her research.
2 Find a piece of starmetal in the Halls Obscured.
10002 Bekarna is certain that a celestial catalyst - a piece of charged starmetal - can be found somewhere in the Halls Obscured. A falling star struck this location recently, so I may have to look deeper.
20000 According to a book I found, unusual spectres might be protective of the starmetal when I find it. I may be able to appease them by offering a small part of my own essence.
3 Bring the starmetal to Bekarna.
10003 I found what Bekarna was looking for. She'll be pleased if I returned it to her in the Temple of Revelation.
End states
No 30000 Bekarna is dead.
Yes 30001 Bekarna succeeded in scribing her own spell.
