Most of the writing and illustrations on the scroll are illegible from a combination of age and water damage. One passage has survived entropy's touch:

Pitied is Ngati, Lady of Lament.
As the pearl orb of the heavens crosses her view,
Her eyes well with tears as constant as rain.
But the moon's skyward journey continues apace,
The lovers' affection as ephemeral as fingers touching.

- This item contains the passage used to open the entrance to the ruins where the sea dragon Scyorielaphas resides under the Watershapers Guild in Periki's Overlook. While it would have been used during the quest The Shadow Under Neketaka, the words are instead given to you by the spirit of Guildmaster Mairu.
