Traps are hazards that may be placed or otherwise encountered in the environment. They trigger when the enemy walks over them, and apply their effects in an area of effect. Traps cannot be crafted.
Description[ | ]
Traps can be placed in outside of combat and are triggered when an enemy walks over them. A trap's effectiveness increases with the Mechanics of the user.
Hazardous traps[ | ]
Hostile traps exist in the world, both as hazards that are triggered when a character steps on them unknowingly, and placed on containers which are triggered when opened. Hostile traps are invisible by default, and may be detected and disarmed, which adds it to the inventory.
A characters' Perception attribute determines the distance they must be within a hidden trap in order to detect it.
With the requisite Mechanics skill, traps may also be disarmed. To disarm a trap, the character's Mechanics score must be greater than or equal to the trap's difficulty level. If the trap's difficulty is higher than the character's Mechanics level, the attempt fails (but does not trigger the trap - for containers, the game will ask if you want to trigger it). Disarming self-placed traps always succeeds.
The highest level traps require Mechanics 12 to disarm and Perception 19 to detect.
Placed traps[ | ]
Traps may be placed in quick slots and laid by the party. There is no mechanics check for disarming and recovering a trap you placed. Each party member may only have one trap laid at a time. Your party will not trigger a trap you place but may be injured by the AoE effects, should it be triggered by an enemy.
Most placed traps are significantly weaker than their hostile counterparts, and have an Accuracy penalty, but each point of Mechanics adds +3 to the accuracy of traps placed by that character.
All traps share the following stats:
- Cast Time: 1.6 sec
- Recovery Time: 3.0 sec
- Noise: Quiet (Use) / Extremely Loud (Impact)
Power levels[ | ]
The power level of set traps is determined by the character's level. Each character level increases the power level of traps by 1. Each power level in traps has the following effects:
- +3 Accuracy.
- +5% duration.
