They found the adra statue in the Endless Paths of Od Nua, and are trying to unlock the Engwithan secrets of how to grow and shape adra, but their progress is curbed by the animats guarding the level below them.
Because he and his team have become homesick, they've built a new nest for themselves in the Endless Paths.
