The Envoy in the Eastern Overlands.
The Envoy of Aedyr (also The Envoy or Envoy) is the protagonist and the player character in Avowed.
Biography[]
As the player character, the Envoy's history is primarily determined by the player during character creation. This includes details like how they rose to prominence within the court of Aedyr, and what their life was like before the events of the game, which are represented by their background, origin, and culture. Similarly, some of the details of their life during the time period of the game is determined by player choices, and no two players will have exactly the same experiences.
However, certain aspects remain consistent: the Envoy is a personal representative of the emperor of the Aedyran Empire, sent to the Living Lands to investigate rumors of a mysterious plague that has been corrupting the souls. As a threat to the Empire, the emperor wants the Envoy to uncover the source and put an end to it.
The Envoy is a godlike, a kith whose soul was blessed before birth by one of the gods. Typically a godlike will have a number of physical manifestations that echo the appearance of their patron. Unlike most godlike, the Envoy does not know what god they're attributed to, which is a mystery uncovered during the course of the game.
