The One that Got Away is a side quest and companion quest for Devil of Caroc in The White March - Part I.
Synopsis[ | ]
The Devil of Caroc wants to find - and kill - a woodcutter named Harmke. She believes that he was directly responsible for the death of her family, but she wants to know for sure.
Walkthrough[ | ]
- The quest starts after visiting Stalwart Village with the Devil present in the party. After you try reading souls of the villagers she will confront you and ask for your help to find the one responsible for the death of her family. You will have to find woodcutter Harmke (just ask people in the village).
- He can be found in Russetwood in Woodcutter's Grove with the rest of the woodcutters. Note that he and the other woodcutters will only appear if you have Devil of Caroc in your party. Confronting him will reveal that he indeed burned Devil's house, along with her family.
- After reading his soul you can decide whether to turn him in to Devil, or say he isn't responsible and spare his life.
- If you choose to turn him in you will have to fight him, along the rest of the woodcutters. However, none of them drops anything of worth besides a few coppers.
- After the confrontation, no matter what you chose to do, the quest will be completed.
