When a volcano at the center of an island in the Deadfire Archipelago began erupting, the ranga of a small Huana tribe was forced to action to save her people. With only two reasonable choices available - seek higher ground inland or retreat to the island's coast - the ranga had to choose quickly. In the end, she decided against marching her people towards the volcano and led them towards the shore despite the increasingly darkening skies. As the huana boarded their boats, thunder began to rumble and it became apparent that a deadly storm was forming. The promise of escape the ocean gave became one of destruction. As the lava crept closer, realization set in that the ranga had chosen incorrectly and now she and her people faced either death on land or death at sea. In a moment of sudden clarity, she realized that one option yet remained and, without hesitation, slit her own throat. That moment of clarity is immortalized in this ring, a precious heirloom that was passed down through the generations.
