Udyne is a character in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

Background[ | ]

Items in italics are quoted directly from the game.

A venerable elf sits beside the water, her creased and spotted skin slightly flushed by the heat. Numerous scars mar her skin on face and torso alike. Her eyes open, and their sharp gaze focuses on you.

Udyne is ancient even by elven standards. She fought in the Broken Stone War two centuries past, seeking glory in battle while protecting Aedyran colonists. she considers herself lucky, as despite going up against Glanfathan mind hunters, she survived where her companions were slaughtered body and soul. Her career took a turn for the worse when they were visiting a farmer near Log Home. Treated to a feast, they were set upon by Glanfathans, who lured them outside by riling the animals. First came the arrows from sceltrfolc, killing two of her compatriots, then they were rushed by a troop of orlan ciphers. By the end of the battle, only Udyne survived and even then, she was clutching her innards to prevent them from spilling out. The farmer helped her, sewing her up and nourishing until she could walk.

Udyne continued to fight, this time in the War of the Black Trees and then in the War of Defiance, on the imperial side. After Aedyr was forced to concede defeat, she traveled north. At this point, the wounds started to affect her general health (eighteen arrows and nine stab wounds tend to do that). She sought refuge in drinking, svef, and now luminous adra baths to dull the agony.
