This flame is not for purification. It is for illuminating the darkness. Sanctification comes only as a result of your journey. But the light will guide your way.

Waenglith is a character in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

Background

A woman shouts, arms raised high and wide. In each hand, she grips a golden candle. The flames gutter wildly as she gestures to the crowd before her. The missionary holds a candle to drip wax in the shape of three stars on the forehead of each kneeling worshipper. One of them stumbles back, swiping the hot wax from his skin and cursing. The priestess trembles her arms, face pinched with disappointment. In the warm sea breeze from the port, loose strands of her sunstreaked hair whip about her head like a living halo. She tilts her face toward the sky. Eyes shut, she drags a shaky hand to dribble wax across her own brow.

Waenglith is a member of the Children of the Dawnstars, leading a drive to save the souls of the living. Her practices and constant baptizing of the people of Deadfire puts her at odds with Xoti, who wishes to tend to the dead as per her status as a reaper of souls. Still, she cares deeply for Xoti - and her purity and godliness. After all, she is a fervent follower of Eothas with surprising strength of body and soul.

This character has other interactions.
  • You can receive a blessing from Waenglith. This includes putting your hand over the flame and listening to her recite the prayer to Eothas, then repeating it. Completing the ritual gives you a Major Positive boost with the Children of the Dawnstars, a boost to your reputation with Eder (if present), and a +50% bonus to healing done with a +2 Religion cherry on top. The blessing lasts until the next rest, and cannot be repeated.
