Wichts are creatures that are the result of the insertion of an animal soul in a child born soulless by animancers.
Description[ | ]
At the beginning of Waidwen's Legacy untold number of children were born without a soul which resulted in their death in infancy. People sought the help of animancers who came up with the solution of inserting animal souls in the children, as using a human lost soul ended with that soul overtaking the body. By inserting the animal soul the child gained awareness and volition, and the animancers believed that given time they would develop into 'normal' people because the animal souls have less personality and memory. The children lived past infancy and developed some faint personality, but their interactions with others were stunted and 'weird'. When the children started reaching adolescence they started to physically change and turn into wichts.
Wichts appear as children between the age of nine and eleven, they have pale skin and purple eyes that glow white. Their finger and toes have grown unnaturally long and misshapen ending with large talons, the teeth are also large and sharp.[1]
