Xefa's Empirical Explication is a blunderbuss in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.
Description[]
An odd confluence of alchemy and mechanical engineering, this blunderbuss once belonged to Xefa Bombardi, an Old Vailian pirate and noble. Xefa was not known for his savagery or ruthlessness, nor was he known for being a particularly successful pirate. Rather, he considered himself to be a "natural philosopher," rejecting the mysteries of the arcane in favor of rational, verifiable logic. He spent his years in the Deadfire aboard his personal frigate, tinkering with mechanical designs, experimenting with alchemical formulae, and writing innumerable treatises on the natural workings of the world. He looted and pillaged on occasion, but that was only a means to fund his various projects.
Piracy, even halfhearted piracy, was a dangerous side-profession, however, and Xefa had no illusions about it. This weapon served him well throughout the years and he never stopped fiddling with the design. As his mastery of alchemy and engineering improved, so did his favorite weapon.
